Agita

Technically the term “agita” pertains in Italian to Heartburn brought on by spicy foods or annoying women… “I can’t tell which bought me more agita (ah-git-ah), the gabagool or that bitch mother-in-law!” Growing up visiting my Italian Grandparents in Redhook, Brooklyn “where all da bodies a’ buried” this term was used a lot because agitation and general inconvenience are a way of life in NYC. Summer in Manhattan is a good catalyst for this term to spew from my gritted Thurston Howell/Jackie Onassis lips. Sounds forced but is in fact quite genuine. Writing this in yet another Uber Suburban. Looking forward to not being homeless. Tomorrow I’ll breathe a little out on Fire Island. With less clothes. Counting the moments.
